Manufacturing Something Is Far More Difficult Than Design🏭 A quote recently by Elon Musk on the Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) podcast 🎙️ regarding the complexities of manufacturing compared to design. “Manufacturing is between 100 and 1,000 times harder than design,” said Elon Musk. 💡 I cannot agree more with premium protein manufacturing as well. Something “designed in the lab” and transferring that technology, based on an all-natural process, is not easy. 🌿 In the lab, we can manufacture around 100 grams for each run. In a pilot plant, we manufacture around 20 kilograms.
The very minimum we can do for the full-scale factory is 250 kilograms. The size and scale of the equipment, as well as the subtle differences and steps, make it more complex. ⚙️ We cannot afford errors or mistakes like Tesla and SpaceX creating premium cars and rockets. 🚀 Commodity-based proteins have a margin of error, say 50%.
